happy camper's survival guide

Camping is an experience that all of us are bound to have at one point of life or other. Here are some tips to survive your average band camp. pay attention.

sleeping

Always remember that you will probably be subjected to arctic weather in an air conditioned classroom in the middle of the night. don't forget to pack a sweater and blankets that are actually large enough to cover yourself with. If not, you will have to inconvenience your parents, by having them bring one to school for you after your first horrifying night. It would be wise to wear long pants, especially if you brought them. Should you be too lazy to put them on, prepare to suffer in the middle of the night and wake up a dozen times trying to tuck your legs into your already oversized sweater. If it helps, wrap yourself in the familiar comforting smells of Cantara.

As for the rock solid concrete floor, there is nothing much that can be done about that. Unless you bring an air bed, get ready for some bruises.

teasing

Always beware of dark corners along the corridor where people like Jillyan will hide in, in order to jump out and shock you. If you happen to fall into this trap, screaming would be a very embarrassing and stupid thing to do.

Although white rabbits may appear harmless, always proceed with extra caution when they are around. They'll sneak up on you when you're not looking and shout in your ear.

Try your best to endure all the jokes about bananas. Especially during dinner time when you bring down a bunch of bananas and everybody laughs at the irony. Exercise quick reflexes when the 'emperor' arrives to avoid further banana humiliation and turning a shade of crimson.

Food

Even if you really want to, don't eat 9 sandwich triangles for breakfast along with everything else. And even if you love the sugar doughnuts, don't eat more than one for supper, you'll get sick. And try not to eat too much at dinner time, even if th designated time is 4.30. you'll get sick.

Hygiene

Oldham wing has warm water.

Movie night out

Do not cry in the theatre. it's totally gay to cry when professor X dies. [why did he have to die?!]

Arm yourself with loads of patience on the way back to camp; especially if you're taking four boys [who can't stop talking about their muffin man] back to school because you all got separated from the rest. Check to see if they put movie ticket stubs in your hair.
